The time capsule (actually a funeral vault) was placed in front of the Community Theatre building on Labor Day weekend in 1989. Hopefully someone will be around in 2089 to dig it up and see what we chose to memorialize in our centennial year. The Time Capsule reads, "Interred Sunday, September 3rd, 1989 at 3:00pm by the officials and citizens of Chapin, S.C. To be exhumed 100 years hence in the year of our Lord, 2089".
